How it works

1. Find the address. We place it on the map with address-lookup services (Geoapify, with OpenStreetMap as backup). The pin can land on the street instead of the house, so drag it, or tap the map, to put it on the property.
2. Find nearby places. We look up schools, child care, churches, parks, libraries and pools from OpenStreetMap, a free community-made map.
3. Measure. Anything within 1,000 ft is a violation. Places just past the line are caution, because map distances are approximate and the law measures property line to property line.
4. Verify. Print or save the summary and take it to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Only they can confirm an address.

What we check

Which places count depends on when the offense happened (O.C.G.A. §§ 42-1-15, 42-1-16, 42-1-17). Choose it under Offense date.

Definitions we follow

• Schools are kindergarten through 12th grade. Colleges and universities don't count.
• Distance is 1,000 ft, measured property line to property line.

What we can't check yet

• School bus stops.
• In-home daycares (family child care learning homes). The law may not cover them; ask the agency that supervises you.
• Unnamed community and subdivision pools.
• Places missing from OpenStreetMap, such as some small rural churches and new daycares.

Privacy

• No account, no ads, no tracking cookies.
• Address lookups pass through our server to Geoapify, which finds the address on the map. We don't store or log what you type. To find places near the pin, your browser asks OpenStreetMap services directly; like any website, they see the map area and your IP address. Map images come from OpenStreetMap and fonts from Google Fonts.
• Human check: Cloudflare Turnstile confirms you're a person when you open the site. Cloudflare sees your browser's details to do this; we only get a yes or no.
• Daily search limit: we count searches using a scrambled code of your connection that changes every day and expires overnight. We don't store your IP address.
• Offense date stays in your browser. It's never sent or saved.
• Recent checks are off unless you turn them on, and even then they're kept only in this browser.
• Issue reports email us only what you type into the form.

Recent checks

Saved only in this browser and never sent anywhere. Anyone who uses this device could see them, so leave this off on a shared or work computer.

Legal basis

O.C.G.A. § 42-1-15 restricts where people on Georgia's registry may live: not within 1,000 ft of a child care facility, church, school, or area where minors congregate, measured from property boundary to property boundary. Which places count depends on the offense date (O.C.G.A. §§ 42-1-15, 42-1-16, 42-1-17).

Results are based on publicly available map data, which may be incomplete or inaccurate. SettledGA is not affiliated with any law enforcement agency, community supervision office, or government body. This is not legal advice. Always verify with appropriate law enforcement before committing to any address.
